It’s a constant wonder to me, color. What drew me to make this photo was the vibrancy of the boats and then when I decided to play around with it in good ole’ photoshop, dialing down the saturation seemed the thing to do. I like them both so I am including both.
Such trivial matters, and yet it feels like much more than that. Years ago I only shot in black and white, that’s how I was taught. Now b&w doesn’t have the same gravity; shapes and negative space have to share the frame with color. There’s always unlimited possibilities of hue, tone, saturation, etc. I’m not sure why but it’s an ever exciting source of joy for me.
